As the days of triple digits are winding down most of us are highly anticipating the cooler weather and we look forward to welcoming fall. Fall in Southern Nevada is a beautiful season with less wind and comfortable temperatures. We have put this blog together to share with you some of the wonderful community events and activities you can enjoy this season in Henderson.
When the weather is nice there is nothing like enjoying a day at the Farmer’s Market. Every Thursday from 9:00am to 3:00pm the Henderson Farmer’s Market is open at the Henderson Events Plaza at 200 Water Street. (weather permitting) Enjoy shopping for market fresh vegetables, baked goods, garden fresh salsas, jams, and a variety of crafts and other unique items. Through November 19th you can also find a Farmer’s Market at the District at Green Valley Ranch. This market is open Thursdays from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and has a great variety of goodies available.
The Water Street District is host to the Super Run Car Show which is held September 24th through September 27th. Super Run features all types of classic and vintage vehicles including trucks, motorcycles, hot rods, muscle cars, competition cars and customs. There are contests, competitions, vendors, food, drink and entertainment. Admission is free of charge and there is complimentary parking as well as a shuttle service. The Heritage Harvest Festival is held on September 26 from 11am-2pm which is located at Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Rd in Henderson. This family-friendly festival features entertainment, a craft fair, and children’s activities such as a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting and games for all generations. The event also incorporates a variety of senior health informational booths and vendors, as well as free vision, hearing, balance and blood pressure screenings. The festival includes a spirited performance by Mama’s Wranglers from 11am to 12:30pm. Admission is free.
Boulder City will host the 53rd annual Art in the Park on October 3rd and October 4th. Art in the Park is one of the largest outdoor art festivals in the Southwest and is the largest fundraiser for the Boulder City Hospital Foundation. The event is free to the public and draws over 100,000 visitors. 300+ juried Fine Art, Fine Craft & Traditional Craft artists will be selling original artwork. There are also live demonstrations, live music, activities for children and raffle giveaways. Parking can be tricky, we suggest the paid parking with a free shuttle service. October 24th is time to celebrate Oktoberfest! Grab a stein and toast to German heritage at the city’s inaugural Oktoberfest at the Henderson Event’s Center. There will be German beer sampling, live entertainment, food trucks and a variety of merchandise for sale. Tickets are $10.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door. This event is from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. What better defines Fall like Halloween! Pumpkin patches are scattered throughout the city and some offer kiddie rides, games and concessions. One of the largest pumpkin patches in Henderson is Stu Miller’s Pumpkin Patch located at 1505 Wigwam Rd. off Stephanie St. They also have other locations throughout the valley. There are also numerous farms in Las Vegas such as McKee Ranch located at 8982 Dean Martin Drive. They offer a hay bale maze, corn cannon, horse-drawn hay rides, , snacks and refreshment stand, face painting, pony rides, farm animals and of course pumpkins. The Galleria Mall in Henderson as well as many other local malls offer trick or treating for kids in a safe environment. Many of the community centers and recreational centers offer festive Halloween events.
