Lee Canyon Ski Resort. When you think of Las Vegas you don’t immediately think of snow and skiing. Most people associate the desert with heat and sun. Lee Canyon Ski Resort is located approximately 45 minutes from Las Vegas in Mount Charleston in the Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest which lies in the Spring Mountains. The average snowfall in Mount Charleston is 129″ as this mountain is the 8th highest peak in Nevada.
Depending on the weather, Lee Canyon Ski Resort normally opens in December and remains open through March. The 400 acre ski able area includes 27 trails, 4 lifts, snow tubing, as well as hike-to side-country areas and a freestyle terrain park. There is a variety of beginner, intermediate and expert trails depending on your interest and skill level. Lee Canyon offers ski and snow board lessons to children and adults. Rental equipment is available for purchase. Season passes are available as well as day passes. Lift tickets can be purchased in advance for a discounted price.
Lee Canyon Ski Resort will be opening the new Hillside Lodge for the 2019/2020 season. The two-story, 10,000 SF building is designed with a modern feel and considers the environment and guest experience by offering indoor and outdoor spaces with sweeping views of Lee Canyon. The Hillside Lodge will boast outdoor heated terrace and patio dining spaces, a ski-in, ski-out bar for Vegas’ best après, a bistro with re imagined food and beverage options, a grill, and expanded restroom facilities. Lee Canyon also offers a ski shop for your convenience.
Most visitors to Lee Canyon Ski Resort are locals or stay on the Las Vegas Strip. If you would like to stay on the mountain there are only 2 options as well as some AIRBNB’s. The Resort on Mount Charleston offers accommodations, an event center, a restaurant/bar, spa, and a general store. The Mt. Charleston lodge has a restaurant/bar, event center, gift shop and 25 cabins for guests to enjoy.
