Location and Weather

Las Vegas is approximately a four hour drive to Los Angeles, which is appealing to many Californians wanting to visit the Golden State. For those who prefer to fly, it is a mere 1 hour flight to Los Angeles at the average price of $120.00 round trip. For the outdoor enthusiasts Las Vegas is in close proximity to Mount Charleston, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Valley of Fire State Park and Lake Mead National Recreational Area. We are approximately 4 hours from the Grand Canyon National Park.

Residents enjoy incredible hiking, golfing, biking, swimming, boating, off road activities and nearby skiing. Although our summers are HOT, the rest of the year is ideal. You may have heard the saying “it’s a dry heat”, it really is not as bad as humidity. Las Vegas’ winters are short and the season is generally mild. December, the coolest month, averages 47.7 °F (8.7 °C). The mountains surrounding Las Vegas accumulate snow during the winter, but snow is rare in the Las Vegas Valley itself. Our city experiences an average of 310 days a year of sunshine and very little precipitation (about 4″ a year).

Entertainment, Shopping & Dining

Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world. With that title comes your choice of the top restaurants, casinos, shopping, concerts, shows, museums and theater. On and off the Strip there are so many options and so many things to do.  Our downtown area is undergoing a major renovation and is now home to: The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Discover Children’s Museum, the Mob Museum, the Neon Museum, the Arts District, Zappos and several government buildings. Residents enjoy many parks, community centers and golf courses throughout the valley. There are many community events throughout the year including: art festivals, foodie fests, parades, holiday events and car shows.

Las Vegas is also becoming a premier sports town. Our very own Golden Knights have been extremely competitive in their short existence and play their home games at the T Mobile Arena located just off the Las Vegas Strip. The Oakland Raiders are set to play their inaugural season in 2020 at the Allegiant Stadium which is currently under construction. Summerlin is host to the Las Vegas Aviators, a minor league baseball team. For basketball fans we also have the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces. There have also been rumors that the NBA will be heading to Las Vegas in the near future.

In conclusion Las Vegas is a much more affordable place to live than anywhere in Southern California.
